The Meriwether County Board of Education is preparing for their next audit. Work is underway on the Board’s fiscal year 2026 financial statements as officials prepare for the next state audit.

The Department of Audits and Accounts is expected to begin its work later in the year and extend into the spring, with field work expected after March. Auditors will contact the county to coordinate the schedule and provide necessary engagement materials.

In the meantime, staff will have access to training and preparation resources, including financial statement checklists and guidelines. Management has also submitted corrective action plans with specific target dates to address previous audit findings. Auditors are optimistic that these steps will help resolve outstanding issues and prevent repeat findings for the next audit cycle.
