Woodbury Wastewater Improvements Underway

The Woodbury City Council met Monday, August 24, at 6pm.
Wastewater improvements are underway. The new barge screen is installed and operating well. Crews will continue monitoring its performance over the coming months and fine-tuning any issues that arise.
Paving planned near the Jonesfield Road intersection has been delayed due to contractor-related issues. The matter has now escalated to a legal issue and is actively being pursued to keep the project moving forward.
The algae bloom that affected the water system earlier in the summer has significantly improved. While a few customers may still notice a slight taste or odor, officials report that the water remains safe to drink. Crews continue flushing lines and closely monitoring the system to keep water quality on track.
Several repair and capital projects are temporarily paused while the budget is reviewed. Meanwhile, outstanding invoices for road repairs and contractor work are being reconciled to ensure everything is accounted for and projects can move forward responsibly.
The Mayor’s Reading Club is expanding, bringing even more opportunities for children and families to discover the joy of reading. A free library is also coming to City Hall, with plans underway for book donations, cataloging, volunteers, and a growing outreach calendar.
On September 21, Family Connections, Head Start, local schools, city leaders, and community partners will come together for Reading Across Meriwether. Council members and chiefs are encouraged to join the fun, read with local children, and help coordinate and capture the event.
