Friday Night Football Roundup — Week 3
The headlines will likely be dominated by the Crosstown Showdown, but several other Houston County teams picked up big wins, too, this week.
The headlines will likely be dominated by the Crosstown Showdown, but several other Houston County teams picked up big wins, too, this week.
Here’s a roundup of Week 3 football:
Houston County
Houston County (2-0) returned from their early bye week with another resounding win.
The Bears hosted Jones County in a local matchup, and they led the Greyhounds the entire way to a 45-14 victory. HoCo led the entire way and took a 14-0 lead before the lightning delay.
Now they look forward to a matchup much of Georgia has their eye on — a road trip to Central-Carrolton.
Northside
The streak is over! Northside (2-1) beat Warner Robins for the first time since 2016, snapping the Demons’ nine-year streak.
The Eagles did it in dominant fashion, too, in a 32-10 final. They trailed 7-6 at halftime, but outside of a 20-yard field goal, it was all Northside in the second half.
Next up is Westlake as they finish out their non-region schedule.
Perry
Perry (1-2) got their first win of the season with a whooping of Howard, 48-7.
The Panthers played Peach County (#4 in 4A) and Dublin (#3 in 2A) in the first two weeks, but were able to get back on track in a game that was also delayed by lightning.
They’ll keep their opponent local next week as they head up to Northeast.
Veterans
Veterans was off this week, but next week they head up to Forsyth Central for a test against a 7A foe.
Warner Robins
Warner Robins (2-1) couldn’t grab hold of that fourth-quarter-comeback magic this time as they fell to Northside, 32-10.
This is the first time the Demons have lost to the Eagles since 2016, snapping the nine-year streak.
Next up Warner Robins will travel to Newton to begin a three-game road trip.
Westfield
Westfield (3-1) bounced back from a disappointing defeat last Friday with a dominant win against Southwest Georgia Academy, 40-8.
That final is a new season-high in points for the Hornets, whose previous was 33 in Week 1 against Brookstone.
Now Westfield will return to the road to take on Bulloch Academy.

The Callaway High Cavaliers will be looking to rebound this Friday night when the team travels to Fayetteville to play the Whitewater Wildcats after suffering a tough loss on the road against the Bowdon High Red Devils last Friday night by a score of 32-3.
