The Peach County school district has earned the Georgia Department of Education’s Economic Development Partnership designation for the 2026 fiscal year for its work in preparing students for joining the workforce.

Public Hearing Tells Hogansville Council “No Data Centers Here”

The Hogansville City Council held the second Public Hearing concerning amendments for a Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) for rezoning areas of the city to General High Industrial (G-HI). This UDO would be in used to regulate any data centers that could be built in the future. The hearing was originally scheduled for City Hall but was moved again to the Royal Theater to accommodate the expected large crowd. It was a good change of venue since approximately 150 people attended.

Ellerslie Voting Precinct to Move

The Ellerslie voting precinct is moving south – just over a mile. Effective with the November General Election, those casting ballots at the Ellerslie precinct will have to go to Ellerslie Park as the voting precinct is being moved from Cornerstone Baptist Church to the Ellerslie Park Lodge.

Purple Heart Dedication Saturday

A dual Purple Heart Dedication is scheduled for Saturday in Hamilton. At 1 pm on the Courthouse steps, a commemorative celebration will be held recognizing Hamilton as the latest city in the county to become a Purple Heart city and Harris County becoming a Purple Heart county. Both the city and county have completed the requirements to become Purple Heart entities and the ceremony caps the designation.
