Letter to the Editor – Frank W. Gadbois

Dear Editor,

In 2020, our election results were counted three times! The last vote was done by hand with no significant voter fraud! Even our U.S. Attorney General publicly stated that voter fraud in our state was practically non-existent, and then resigned his office and retired before Trump could fire him! Until then, he had been Trump’s personal lawyer and not our nation’s attorney general! He had no shame for not being our people’s lawyer.

Our Republican-controlled state government recently passed a voting rights law that will make it harder for many of us to vote from now on. The governor signed this voting suppression at midnight with no media oversight. He knows that this law will discourage many of our poorest citizens, many of whom are physically handicapped. This new law will discourage citizens providing refreshments to those waiting to vote, plus limit the hours of drop boxes.

In 2020, we counted our ballots three times—the last time by hand—without any noticeable, significant voter fraud. But my local state legislators have been known to say the new laws will make it easier to vote for all of us—not harder. I wish that this was true and that they were honorable gentlemen!
